What we believe as Seventh day Adventists
Seventh day Adventists are a Protestant Christian denomination that emphasizes the Bible as the sole authority for faith and practice (they accept no other creed). Their official teachings are summarized in the 28 Fundamental Beliefs, which are grouped into six main categories: God, Humanity, Salvation the Church, Daily Christian Living, and Restoration (end times).
These beliefs align closely with mainstream evangelical Christianity on core doctrines, but include several distinctive emphases that set them apart.
Core Beliefs (Shared with most Christians)
The Bible - The inspired, infallible Word of God and the ultimate authority.
The Tirinity - One God eternally existing in three co-equal Persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ ), and Holy Spirit
Jesus Christ - Fully God and fully human; He lived a sinless life, died as a subtitutionary sacrifice for sin, rose bodily, ascended to heaven, and intercedes for us.
Salvation - By grace through faith in Jesus, including repentance, jusitification, sancitification, and growth in Christ.
The Church - The community of believers called to worship, felloship, service, and sharing the gospel.
Baptism - By immersion, as a public declaration of faith.
The Second Coming - Jesus will return visibly and personally to take His people home.
Distinctive Beliefs (What Makes Adventists Unique)
Here are the most characteristic teachings:
Marriage
We (at EHA) believe the Biblical definition of marriage is the union between a man and a woman.
Genesis 2:21-24; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9; 1 Corinthians 7:2-4; Ephesians 5:22-31
Gender Identity
We (at EHA) believe God designates each individual their gender. God ordained two genders, male and female. Mankind does not possess the authority to identify themselves differently than their biological sex assigned by God, and any attempt to alter one's gender is sin.
Genesis 1:27; 5:2; Matthew 19:4; Mark 10:6; Job 40:8; Jeremiah 13:23
